Deciding to use a food shelf may be a difficult decision. We hope to make this process easier by helping our clients feel welcome and treating them with confidentiality, dignity and respect. Clients do not have to wait until they are in severe debt to come to us. Sometimes getting help with food leaves extra money for other bills. No one should feel uncomfortable coming to us for help.
Who can come to the food shelf?The Friends in Need Food Shelf primarily serves the residents of Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport and Grey Cloud Island, however, we will serve anyone no matter where they live. If you are not from one of these communities and would like to find a food shelf closer to you, please call the Minnesota Food Help Line 1-888-711-1151 to find out your nearest food shelf location.
How do I make an appointment?We require you to schedule an appointment before coming to the food shelf. Appointments help us to reduce or eliminate wait times and ensure a more pleasant shopping experience for everyone.
To make an appointment, please call 651-458-0730 on Mondays between 12 pm to 3 pm or Tuesday mornings after 7:30 am. If you get our voicemail during those times it means others are also calling and making appointments so please try back every few minutes until you reach our receptionist to make your appointment. |
What should I bring?We do not require you to bring anything when you come to the food shelf for food. We may require identification for other programs that are available.
Where is the food shelf?We are located at 535 4th St., St. Paul Park, MN 55071, behind Carbone’s Pizza. For specific directions, please call us at 651-458-0730 as some map services do not pinpoint the correct location.
When can I shop?Friends in Need is open Tuesdays from 8 am to 4 pm and
Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Only one family member is allowed in the shopping area. If you require assistance while shopping, contact us regarding accommodation options. If circumstances prevent you from being able to shop during these hours, please contact us to discuss a solution to your particular situation. |
