DONATE TO HELP US IN OUR FIGHT TO END FOOD INSUCURITY!

At Friends in Need Food Shelf (FiN), our mission is to support the community by distributing food and other necessities to those in need. We also provide support through programs for school supplies and holiday meals, as well as referrals to other agencies.

The need is greater than ever! Over the past ten years, the
number of clients we serve annually has doubled from just under 7,000 to almost 14,000. In addition, a decade ago, donations
allowed us to spend $22 per household member each visit. In today’s dollars, the equivalent would be $30. Unfortunately, with increased costs and decreased federal support, we now have
only $13 to spend per household member, each visit.

According to Feed America, over 540,000 Minnesotans suffer food insecurity. At FiN, we:

  • provide support to clients from all over the Twin Cities, with a focus on South Washington County and the cities of St. Paul Park, Newport, Cottage Grove, and Grey Cloud Island.
  • serve between 270 and 300 households every week.
  • distribute over 1.2 million pounds of food and other goods each year.
  • are 99% volunteer operated with over 125 individuals donating their time each week to provide a positive experience to our clients.
Your monetary donations make a difference! Because we get a significant amount of our food from Second Harvest, we can stretch your donation up to ten times. Please consider donating today.
